The soldier hit the farmer with a stick.
In the country, farmers are called Annadata (food givers), and they spend their blood and sweat to provide food to the people, but what would it be called if the same Annadata is beaten by the police with sticks? Similarly, a video questioning the working style of the police in UP’s Hamirpur district is going viral on social media. In this video, a police officer is seen hitting farmers with sticks to force them to queue at the fertilizer distribution center to get fertilizer. After the video went viral, to avoid embarrassment, the police put the accused police officer online and began investigating the case.
The matter pertains to the cooperative society located in the Sumerpur police station area. Also on Thursday, like every day, hundreds of farmers were queuing up in front of the fertilizer distribution center since the morning to get fertilizers. Due to the huge crowd, there was a fight between the farmers to queue, after which the policeman stationed there started hitting the farmers with a stick and forced them to queue, a video that someone made viral. After watching the viral video, people are wondering about the working style of the police.
Farmers queuing all night
Farmers are in great need of DAP fertilizer for sowing wheat, but due to less availability of fertilizer in fertilizer centres, there is a fight among farmers regarding fertilizers. In some centers, farmers remain in queues all day. Despite this, if they cannot get the fertilizer, they spend all night waiting in line to harvest it, so that they can get it early in the morning.
Farmers cannot get fertilizers.
Because of this, they also have to endure the rudeness of the police. This was seen today when the farmers had to confront the police. According to farmer leader Santosh Singh, there is not enough fertilizer in any government fertilizer distribution center across the district. Farmers who need 10 bags of fertilizer receive two bags of fertilizer. Fertilizers are available in private stores at double the price. Farmers are forced to buy.
CO will investigate the matter
After the video of a police officer beating farmers queuing for fertilizers went viral, to save the department from embarrassment, police officers found out about the video and sent the accused officer to the queue. According to Sumerpur police station in-charge Rakesh Kumar, the entire matter is being investigated but there is a lot of resentment among the farmers of the district due to this incident. Those who say that receiving sticks instead of asking for fertilizers is a failure of the district administration. The CO himself will investigate this matter.
