Along with the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, assembly by-elections were also held in 9 seats in UP. Election results for one of these seats have been announced. We are talking about Sisamau headquarters in Kanpur. The Samajwadi Party candidate has strongly won this seat. However, during the election campaign a fatwa was also issued against the SP candidate, for which he later had to apologize. However, now during the elections the people of Sisamau have elected him.
Naseem Solanki won
In fact, SP candidate Naseem Solanki won a landslide victory in the Sisamau assembly seat. Naseem Solanki defeated his nearest candidate, BJP’s Suresh Awasthi, by 8,629 votes. A total of 132,973 votes were cast in the Sisamau seat. Of these, SP candidate Naseem Solanki got 69,666 votes, while his rival BJP candidate Suresh Awasthi got 61,037 votes. While Virendra Kumar stood third in Sisamau seat and got 1409 votes. Apart from these, Ashok Paswan got 266 votes, Krishna Kumar Yadav got 113 votes, while 482 people pressed the NOTA button.
Fatwa issued during the election campaign
Let us tell you that Samajwadi Party candidate from Sisamau assembly seat Naseem Solanki had performed Jalabhishek at Shivalinga at a historic temple in Kanpur on Diwali night. Naseem Solanki lit the temple lamp and performed the puja with complete rituals. After his video came to light, the matter gained such prominence that discussions became heated from political circles to the Maulanas, and a fatwa was issued against the SP candidate. All India Muslim Jamaat national president Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi issued a fatwa on Naseem and said he should repent.

We inform you that by-elections were held for 9 UP Assembly seats. In this, 20 by-elections are being held in Mirapur (Muzaffarnagar), Kundarki (Moradabad), Ghaziabad, Khair (Aligarh), Karhal (Mainpuri), Sisamau (Kanpur Nagar), Phulpur (Prayagraj), Katehari (Ambedkar Nagar) and Majhwan. (Mirzapur) voting for assembly seats took place in November. Of the nine seats for which by-elections were held, eight seats fell vacant due to resignation of sitting Assembly MLAs after being elected to the Lok Sabha. In one seat, Sisamau, by-elections were held due to cancellation of assembly membership of incumbent SP MLA Irfan Solanki after he was convicted in a criminal case.
