The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major weather warning as the depression over southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression and is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours. A heavy rain warning with strong winds has been issued in Tamil Nadu.
