Coercion or strategy... Why is the BJP not fielding a candidate from Hemant Soren's Barhat party?

Hemant Soren files nomination for Barhat seat

The BJP, which is contesting 68 seats in Jharkhand, has announced candidates for 66 seats. The two seats where the party has not fielded candidates include Tundi in Dhanbad and Barhet in Sahebganj. Regarding Tundi, allies Janata Dal United and AJSU are said to be making a claim here, so BJP is avoiding declaring the candidate here.

However, there is silence within the party on the Sahebganj seat. The big BJP leaders are giving only one answer regarding fielding candidates for this seat: wait. In such a situation, the question arises: why is the BJP fielding Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s latest candidate, Barhet?

What is the reason for the delay in the presentation of candidates in Barhat?

In Barhat, the BJP wanted to go for Lewis Marandi, who had earlier contested from Dumka, but Lewis refused to do so there. Lewis said I prepared the ground in Dumka, so why would I go to Barhat? However, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has given entry to Jama’s Lewis. In such a situation, the question arises: why did Lewis, who was going to Jama, not go to Barhet?

After Lewis joined Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, BJP is currently in no-risk mode. The BJP is said to fear that if someone is named as a candidate against Hemant and eventually switches sides like Lewis, this could embarrass the BJP.

JMM may project this as a victory even before the election. Anyway, nominations have to be filed in Barhet till November 29, so the BJP is in no hurry to declare the candidate here.

I don’t want to give a walkover message.

In 2019, BJP had fielded Simon Malto against Hemant Soren and in 2014, Hemlal Murmu. Hemlal Murmu is currently with Hemant Soren. Simone Malto is definitely ready to set the pace this time. However, in the last election Malto lost to Hemant by 25,000 votes.

The BJP does not want to field any such candidate this time so that the message reaches the people that Hemant has achieved an easy victory in Barhet.

JMM mocks, silence in BJP

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is fiercely mocking the BJP for the delay in fielding candidates from Barhet. While talking to reporters, former MLA Kunal Shadangi said that only if the BJP fields Babu Lal Marandi from here, only then something can be done.

Jharkhand BJP state president Babu Lal Marandi is currently a candidate from Giridih seat of Dhanwar. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha says the BJP accepted defeat even before the elections, so it will not field candidates against Hemant.

On the issue, Barhet’s former candidate, Simon Malto, states that the party will make a decision soon. Speaking to reporters, Malto said that there is a delay, but that the party will make a concrete decision.
