In the upcoming academic year, students will be admitted to the 11th grade of upper secondary education based on their SSC exam results and equivalent assessments. As in the previous year, applications will be centrally submitted online, and admission will be determined based on merit and student preferences.
The Inter-Educational Board Coordination Committee has submitted a proposal to the Department of Secondary and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education regarding this matter. Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, Chairman of the Inter-Educational Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Education Board, provided this information on Monday afternoon, August 3.
He stated, “There are no significant changes to the admission process for the 11th grade this time either. We have submitted the draft policy to the ministry, maintaining the admission criteria based on results or grades, as before.”
The results of the SSC and equivalent exams will be published on August 10. They were originally scheduled for July 20 but were postponed due to insufficient preparation by school boards. Students who pass these exams will be admitted to Grade 11 for the current academic year.
While admission to upper secondary schools and madrasas is based on these results, religious schools such as Notre Dame College and Holy Cross College will conduct entrance exams in accordance with court orders issued several years ago.
There are over 2.6 million places available in Grade 11 at upper secondary schools and madrasas across the country. This year, the total number of candidates for the SSC and equivalent exams exceeded 1.857 million. Consequently, as always, a large number of Grade 11 places will remain unfilled.
